So people in my search for a hdi 406 estate i seem to find more 90s than 110s
i would prefer the 110 for the bit of extra power...
but can people tell me is there much noticable difference between them in every day to day driving and when it comes to towing, either a trailer tent or light weight caravan
thanks in advance

90 bhp or 110 bhp
2001 406 HDI 110 GTX Estate
Re: 90 bhp or 110 bhp
A lot of people describe the hdi90 as underpowered, but it is less costly to own (no dmf!) and can be safely remapped to supply enough power and torque to be useful
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: 90 bhp or 110 bhp
Both the 90 and 110 are very variable in their feel from car to car, and a sharp 90 will feel brisker than a sluggardly 110.
As aforementioned, you don't suffer DMF problems in a 90, and you also won't suffer the less than fabulous 110's rear caliper set up.
Both have a braked towing capacity of 1500kg. The 110 has slightly higher torque at 250 NM to the 90's 205, but this is again very variable from car to car, and I'd not be keen to subject the 110s DMF to the stress of towing.
They're both slow but uber economical cars, and I'd take the 90 every time - more durable, and if you're buying for economy why not buy the cheapest? Choose wisely and you'd be hard put to tell the difference from the drivers seat.

Re: 90 bhp or 110 bhp
have owned both and the 90 is by far the best and most economical.
