hello guys ,

im douglas a.k.a. dougy , i drive a pug 406 2.0l hdi saloon before i had a pug 106 (R.I.P.)
anything on soundsystems if right up street
at the moment my car is fitte with a jvc radio with 250 watt built in amp (looking at pioneer for next purchase) then i have a sioux woofer with 2x 18" 350watt rms cones linked to a 3000 watt amp by sioux
for the backspeakers i have a pioneer amp of 500 watt and highend speakers also by pioneer




i curaintly work as aftersales represenative for Peugeot garage's owend by the gewelt brothers here in belguim.
so i have acess to servicebox at work if u guyshave any questions

Hi. I'm a long-time Peugeot owner, still driving the 504 GLD diesel that I bought new in 1981. Last weekend I picked up a '97 406 ST manual petrol (2l 16v) sedan with 165,000 kms and in excellent condition. I would have preferred a diesel but they are less common and much more expensive, although if a good HDI comes along I may still be tempted. I think that the 406 is the peak of Peugeot styling.

I hope to do as much maintenance as possible myself but it is a bit more complicated than the 504! Anyway, this will be the first place I'll come for answers.

Now the proud owner of a 1999 406 with only 48k on the clock , prevoius owner ( me old man ) serviced car every year by main dealer so hope to get some hassle free milage in . I am 43 years 'young' and a professional driver for a living , finally found my mrs right and married ( did realise at the time but her first name is ALWAYS ) , we have 4 kids between us ( its complicated) , like to join owners clubs as you chat with some very helpful people , thats it really ! Oh and I cannot stand this pathetic pc , health and safety namby pamby , wishy washy , camera watching big brother style society we have to live in . By the way, hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Well hi guys - been a member for a short while and as some more have posted here would just give a little overview of myself - My Name is Jonathan (Jon) and have owned my peugeot for 5 years now - it ws my Dads before that from 6 months old - Its the 2nd pug I have had over time - I had a 405 a few years back for about 4 years - My car is a 1997 LX estate 1.9 td Its standard except for the recent fittment of New original fog lights and the little lights I have added to the interior and the 7 seat conversion i fitted a few months ago- I have a 7 series BMW 735iSe Auto i have owned for the past 12 years which i only use occasionally . The wife drives a Mazda Premacy Sport which we recently bought as we have a 2yr old Son so needed to upgrade from the VW Golf.
I do all the work on my cars myself as Garages in my mind always Rip you off and never do as good a job as i do myself with regards to preventing problems in the future (No disregard to all mechanics here). I have worked in I.T for the past 20 years until made redundant last year - I was thinking of changing my Peugeot to a newer 406 but after giving it a lot of thought - trying to find a newer car with less mileage than my car has @ 104000 is not easy and as I have not had any problems with the car over all these years it seems daft to change - It is in very good condition with no rust and has only a couple of small dents from people who have hit it - the most recent was last year when a white van driver decided to drive straight into my rear quarter panel after flashing me on .. these are a few jobs for the summer - It has plenty of room being an estate and with the towbar and my dad having a big trailer it pulls very well - I will not be getting rid of it as it does me very well and has been so reliable -I have been a member of the 7 series forum for a few years and arranged a meet at the Vale Hotel and have recently joined the Mazda forum as the premacy is difficult to find info on - And am looking forward to meeting some fellow peugeot owners. when i arrange the south wales meeting..anyway thats about it for a quick overview of us . look forward to plenty of discussions here .

Mileage is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to 406s, they're superb at soaking up the miles

I appreciate that but dont want to buy a car with more mileage and not get anything more than i have - I am really happy with my car and dont see the need to change.
