Blowing headlight bulb

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I've been lucky with this car. Since I bought it in Feb last year, I've covered 30,000 miles and not a single bulb has gone yet! (just to rub it in :supafrisk:)

I know cheapo ones will go quicker than "proper" ones though but I've tried all types in my Accord and they kept blowing...

LED sidelamps,
From eBay..had these in since September with no problems or burnouts. On every evening virtually for about 6-8 hours.
If I had normal bulbs then I'd have gone through about 8-10 of them by now.

My d9 has a habit of blowing bulbs, drivers side dipped beam tonight.
Always the dipped beam can go on any side.I had about 2 last year and 2 so far this year.Oh and one sidelight this year too.
I thought it might be voltage spikes but i supose i can check connections and clean up if necesary.

I have had two 406 110 se's at the same time, the headlamps blew on one more than the other, the only thing I could find different between the two cars was that the A/C clutch had broken on one and not the other - that car didn't seem to be having any trouble with bulbs, :|

so I have just bought a se estate and every time I get in the a/c is pushed  . I always notice a glitch in the headlamps when driving any 406 though (approx every 2 mins they seem to flicker ), this might be something to do with the problem hmmmmm

Hid's came,

I took my time fitting them, perfecting the installation, ensuring the bulbs touched nothing, they sprung to life with a little flicker mm they look good 8)

Then the next night the bloomin ballast fails  , now I'm waiting on the replacement ballast, this is now an issue as I cannot simply plug hella bulbs in what a downer, I hope the new ballast fixes this, otherwise I might be tempted to fit Disco 3 headlamps with that auto turn function, granted i'tll look funny but at least they'll "blinkin" work

Just an update, Had the HID's in for quite some time now, after finding out that I had cheap ballasts  then replacing them for moderately expensive ones I have had no problems with flickery lights or blowing bulbs - RESULT!! , The only issue to consider is that should a ballast or lamp blow it's not a simple stop at the local garage to pick up a bulb :-S,

p.s HID's suit a 406!! :D

Did you fit projectors, or just fit HID bulbs into the original reflectors?
