Dead Again!!!! Fuel pump woes

Well the pug has let me down again

tonight whilst out at a friends for dinner, it refused to start and i know i cant hear the fuel pump when i turn the key, that along with the sound of fuel starvation from the engine makes me think the lift pump has gone, fu*îng thing!!!

so simple question, how hard is the pump to replace? ive lifted the seats and pulled back the soundproofing to reveal the big grommet, pushed that out of the way so i can see the pump top,

is it as simple as it looks?

are there anythings i should know about before i start?,

and finally and with fingers crossed..... is it really dead or can i bring it back to life

its getting done tomorrow daytime as the wife will need the car tomorrow night for work and i will try take plenty of snaps for a write up as i cant see a "how to" on here for it already, but any advice in advance would be really helpful.

Hi Dan , you can sometimes bring it back to life by gently tapping it ,
fairly straight forward to replace but are usually a very tight fit so make
sure you have a tool capable of releasing it ie filter wrench chain or large
mouthed mole grips can be used

one more question, Im being told by some people on the phone it must be the Bosch part that is currently fitted and then by others that they are all the same on the hdis, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

GSF have one in stock @ 146.88p oh well looks like thats the one, pug wanted a whole lot more

now just to beat the lock ring into submission.

Lock ring defeated!!

old pump loose and ready to drip smelly diesel all over the back of my car,

right a quick brew and a fag and on we go.

wish me luck and i will report back asap.

So is it an easy DIY fix?

YES YES YES

I will do a write up and stick some pics up later on, but the upshot is its done,

car is running again and i saved myself over 200 quid on what peugeot wanted to do the job and a ton on what the local garage wanted,

my advice is if this happens to you and you have even the slightest mechanical knowledge or even are willing to follow instruction then this is a job you should do yourself.
