Hi all, new to the club and new to 406 ownership, 5 days and counting.
Just bought an old P reg GLX 1.9td, body work and engine are tidy for year but the interior is ROUGH !
The heater had packed up and it got very damp so there is a lovely musty smell until i can get it valeted.
My question here tho is will a D9 air con / heater control panel fit in a D8 dash ? and will the wiring be the same ?
the LCD and lights have all gone on mine which is a right pain driving at night, all the buttons work but you have to remember what you pressed last time you were in the car to know what your hater settings are LOL.
Seen a few panels on ebay which i assume are from D9's (very similar to mine but a different button layout) but struggling to source a D8 version.
Plus what sort of MPG should I expect ? seems a bit high at the mo but only filled up once so not exactly sure, needle seems to have moved a lot for not a lot of miles. Planning to do filters and oil in next few weeks so may run a bit less thirstily after that. Any tips or things to look out for much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Welcome in mate!
You will not get a D9 climate control unit to fit, let alone work. The loom is totally different!
If you pop your existing unit out you can replace the bulbs, they are fairly easily changed. As it happens they were all blown when I bought my 406!

Thanks for that, will have a look at the weekend.
Will that make the LCD display brighter ? it's so dim it's not visible at all from the drivers seat. I can just about see it if i stand outside the car and view it from an angle, not easy to do at 60 mph tho !!!!

Teamster you're a star, ten minutes with some star drives and £6 worth of bulbs and my display is good as new !
Now the important things are sorted I can get on with minor things like oil, filters, cambelt...... nothing serious

Glad it's sorted! I've got the timing belt and starter motor to sort out...
