Relays ??

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Relays ??

Post by 406IT »

Hi Guys - I have ecently added peugeot foglights to my car ( its an LX) luckily the wiring is all there but it took me a few days to work out that even though the fuses were there (Under the bonnet) and the new indicator stalk purchased and all seemed to be O.K the lights would not work - after speaking to two peugeot main dealer parts dept foud out that the relay was missing - got the part number and from the main dealer it was (are you sitting down) £44.84 +VAT =£52.59 - after some research it turns out it is the same relay as the rear heated window - or it works anyway - luckily my mate had a compatible relay so all working - anyway during all my investigation i noticed there are places for 2 relays under the donnet - using a multimeter i noticed they have feeds from the lights and was just wondering what they would have been used for - i guessed it would be for either washer jets or wipers for the headlights but dont know - can anyone shed some light on them as I cant find any reference anywhere for the relays or what they operate..

Wouldn't it be the headlamp washers? Not on HBoL crappy non-diagrams, but as they only work with the headlights on, I'm thinking separate pump + relay?

Be good to know, cos I'm sick of turning the headlights off to clean the windscreen  - be nice to have it selectable.....
