Not driving for a while...

I've just discovered the worst thing about enforced non-driving. My local village shop has run out of Marboro reds, and I can't drive to the next village to visit their shop. Had to buy B & H instead. Weekend ruined

All the more reason to give up the smokes!

Thankfully I've got Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's that'll deliver here, as well as dial-a-beer in emergencies. I've also had good experiences getting taxis to deliver fags!

£65/day to hire an auto car. But I've discovered there's a very large step (about 9") in front of my house. Never noticed it being that tall before, but now I can't get up it...

Carrying a plate has become a major challenge too I've resorted to shoving it in my gob when it's empty, and pushing it along the floor when it's got food on it. Life is difficult without mobility if you live alone

Pah you southern pansy! I had a stable wall fall on my left shin back in November, swelled up like a good'un. My left shin still has a flat spot on and has a massive part where the nerves no longer tell me anything. I didn't bother going to hospital either, but couldn't put any weight on it the first day, could just about shuffle along on the 2nd day, limp on the 3rd and I was walking again on the 4th. Only managaed to start playing 5-a-side again last week but being very careful to make sure I don't get kicked on the shin too hard! The whole back of my calf and foot went purple/black too. Pics as it looks now...



Main reason I didn't go to hospital is because the nearest A&E would've been the best part of 30miles away and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle and time it would've taken. Really I probably should've gone, but meh.

Hope you're able to put weight on it soon though Matt, can be a right bugger not being able to move around. I must admit, when I've done my ankle in the past I've ended up crawling around/up the stairs to get to bed!

CRAP! I don't think I'll be able to go to bed with this cast on! Damn thing's only about 4" off the floor and there's nothing in the room to grab on to. Grr...

I feel for you buddy. I do MMA and im always getting injuries like this. Makes the stuff we do day to day impossible and makes me realise how much we take for granted. Thought id blown my ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) the other week. Could not walk for a week. Everytime I got up my knee just collapsed underneath me. Ended up haveing to have Cortisone injections so sort it out. Not pleasant.

Im not too bad at the moment though. Only got a broken rib and a hyper-extended shoulder to moan about

Went back to the hospital Monday, they took the plaster cast off, prodded my foot a bit then put on a stupid bloody fibreglass cast which I've got for another 2 1/2 weeks



It's now a lot worse - my toes are properly black now Hate this fibreglass cast though - whenever I put my foot on the floor all the blood rushes to it and it swells up... and has no space to swell so it feels like my foot's going to explode. And of course being fibreglass it may as well be teflon for all the grip it has on my laminate flooring.

Worst part is having to sleep on the sofa because I can't make it upstairs. Got to ration my trips to the loo and kitchen too...
