Hi all,
I have a D9 MK2. This rainy season is very rainy here in my country and result for a leak from the real lamp. I have solved the issue, and dried the rear carpet. I read over this forum that this issue can lead to another problem - Multiplex error - from the corroded cable under the carpet. My question is, where can I found the cable because once when I dried the rear carpet, I opened the carpet and I forgot if there were any cable or no. Now the carpet has refitted and it will spend a lot of time to open it again to check for the cable.
could anyone here tell me where is the cable that can make a multiplex error issue?
thanks a lot

Hi there!
The connectors you are after are in the drivers footwell area near the door sill on RHD cars; I am not sure if this is the case in LHD cars or whether they are still on the right.
This post shows the connectors.

Wow, that such a big help for me. I will look forward to check it. I have an RWD one. Thanks a lot master

Re: (ASK) Problem with water at the rear seat carpet. Multiplex?
One more question. Do the water from the real footwell (water leak from the boot rear light seal) can go through the front footwell? because when I opened the carpet (not all the carpet) the deck is separated with a up level deck separates rear and front compartment.
I though my front carpet is wet with water too, where this water came from? from the seal? or there are another issue (like the rear lamp issue) that affected the front compartment too

The water would be able to run down the channels where the wiring loom runs to the back of the car, you may want to check your spare wheel well as this may be full of water too!anggie89 wrote:One more question. Also pop the door card off and see if the membrane has any rips in it.
Thanks for your kind words, this club is a real team effort with very knowledgable people!

Ya, i have checked my spare wheel, and I found a mini pool there
The more crazy things that I also found another pool under my rear carpet and seat.
The good news is I've found the water line, and the big problem is the rear lamp seal. It's only made of not-so-good foam rather than a good quality rubber. I sealed it ( with silicone, 2 bottle, hehe).
the other thing is, there are another water in the driver carpet. where it is came from?
tried to check the seal, but I thought that's all right, gonna see the plastic thing that you were told.
are there another thing that the leak could be happen from?

Re: (ASK) Problem with water at the rear seat carpet. Multiplex?
if rear bulbs ,stop ligts ,indicators have been replaced the form rubber gasket will be dis lodged, take units out and use some silocane.if you have a wet carpet in back, odds on water has ingrested into drivers foot well, take back seat out[10 min.job] if wet it has passed in to drivers and poss pass. footwell.in the drivers footwell is the connector that joins all the electrics from the back[main harness].when connector breaks down because of the water corroding the contacts,it starts to mess the ecu up,sending all sorts messages.

I've opened my front carpet, and found that the water is all over. I start to dry the main connector you said, and spray it with a lot of penetrant (WD40) as a first aid.chasmate10 wrote:if rear bulbs ,stop ligts ,indicators have been replaced the form rubber gasket will be dis lodged, take units out and use some silocane.if you have a wet carpet in back, odds on water has ingrested into drivers foot well, take back seat out[10 min.job] if wet it has passed in to drivers and poss pass. footwell.in the drivers footwell is the connector that joins all the electrics from the back[main harness].when connector breaks down because of the water corroding the contacts,it starts to mess the ecu up,sending all sorts messages.
I will open my carpet tomorow. Another question, where is the water come from? is that from the firewall hole (sounds strange), from the door seal, or from the door membrane? or there are a hole in the bottom of the car, and when I did a steam car wash ( water spray from the bottom ) the water will go through the hole?
please help me, thanks for your kind response
