I'd say lock the forum down and have a good sweep up. Us proper members won't mind a few days off if it's for the good of the forum.

It might free up a lot of space too.

What truely amazes me is that someone, somewhere, is actually spending so much of their time doing this to us when we're not in the slightest bit interested

If you have a quick squint through the members list there's quite a few non-posters with web adresses as contacts/location I've seen a few from the same place like pearl....something or other and another from some Polo-Shirt place in the US.

Looks like companies sign up as members but looking to plug their stuff for free at some point

Probably a good idea to delete all these, and any non-posters over 6 months old or something.

I think Welly has it, bods who've signed up a long while back but have never posted anything get the chop. Maybe that only needs to be from before we had this 5 post thing too.

I have no idea. The only pattern is that all the accounts were created last year May-June time. 20 posts per user, about 16 accounts.
That would do it, bastards. One spam account I just looked up has been registered 180 days, wonder if there's a cut-off in the approval required time...
teamster1975 wrote:I'd suggest we ditch all the 0 post accounts which is what these were. Nothing from Nick, or mjb & Dai for that matter. Lucky I was working at home today!
I've been literally living on my sofa :( Playing Mass Effect 2 all week and doing very little else (loo and food breaks kept to a minimum)

I'd be more inclined to ditch 0 post accounts where the user used non-RIPE (european region) IP address space. Less chance of killing genuine lurkers

I can test this, and own up to a bit of a joke (which I thought would be detected as a wind up but wasn't so I kept quiet about it until now  ).

Anyhoo I have a spare username AKA "Shuvitupyerars" absolutely no offence meant by the name, I saw it on another forum and thought it was funny but then again I am a bit strange

He was registered on 5th November 2008, I'll break him out now and pop a post in, see if he gets past the 5-post rule....

Hang on........... :arrowd:

Yeah it's here without waiting for approval

Can you not ban them first, then delete them? Ok, they've probably got a stack of usernames but it'll take a bit longer to realise.
