Huge crop of pointless SPAM!

Could we not temporarily appoint some more admin helpers that are on a lot to help delete the spam and ban the users ?, the more people doing it, the easier it will be and the quicker we can weed out the dodgey accounts

The trouble is that Nick needs to grant this access. And if he's around to do that he could give us (the existing mods) admin access so that we can clean up all the 0 post accounts over 6 months old (on non european IP's as mjb says). This would kill the problem in one hit; there must be a bug in the php code that allows unrestricted posting after 6 months as a new user.
