Seems as though they've stopped for now, but we will be killing off the suspect accounts.

Re: Gear knob removal
Is wondering if I should get shot of the pug and buy a bus pass , or have you gents just been here way too long
.... Now the wife tells me she wants me to replace the gaiter on her ****hall ***sa , I have explained that this will require much Knob pulling
Now , I may have pulled my Knob fixing my 406 but should I really be un-faithful and pull my knob elsewhere

Re: Gear knob removal
I thought id have at removing the gearknob on the wifes 406 D9.
I twisted it anti-clockwise and it made a cracking sound.
I then just pulled up and twisted clockwise and anti-clockwise and it came off with ease...

Re: Gear knob removal
The cracking sound signals the start of an unplanned bowel evacuation (i.e. "OH S*** I'VE JUST BROKEN IT"). It's just years of grime and adhesion breaking away.
Mine took a hell of a lot of effort (though my car had just turned 10 years old when I did this). I think your wife's 406 is a bit younger than mine.
I may have to remove mine again; I think I'm going to buy the non-smoking kit/centre console storage compartment add-on from The Peugeot Shop (Yeomans). Cheap upgrades for the win!

Re: Gear knob removal
According to servicebox, you need a 2403 S6 CUIR OURAGAN NOIR, or possibly just a 2403 S9 CUIRsteve_earwig wrote:Anyway, back on topic, my knob fell off in my hand so I stuck it back on with a blob of Araldite.

Thinking it might save you a few lipa to souce this in the UK, I checked on both parts:
00002403S6 LEATHER BUTT H 33.19 39.00 39.00
00002403S9 LEATHER BUTT H 34.89 41.00 41.00
It all sounds decidedly unsavoury and supports the view that you shouldn't have been playing with it in the first place.
You'll all go blind

Re: Gear knob removal
I only used a tiny blob of the stuff in case I need to pull it off again
Unfortunately that's plus 65 quid import duty and "slashing your parcel to bits to see what's inside and then sellotaping it back together again badly" charges. I used to get stuff from the UK, mostly ebay. Sickeningly they changed the law early last year, it used to be anything under about 75 quid was free, then it was taxed at 23% (or there abouts) above that, now it's a fixed rate of 500 weasels for anything, even a washer valued at a few pence, 'til you get to 23% is 500 stoats, then it's that percentage for anything above.
I can still get my brother to repackage stuff and send it out here so it looks like a gift or something but I don't think that'll work forever.
So, nice try but I'll stick "ha!" with this one, even if it has got a hole in it.
