Hey guys i posted recently about my central locking and electric Windows not working, however i have looked into it more and it looks as if someone has changed the drivers door for a D9 door, now i only think this because the door card and switches are different, also the window motor has a different plug connector to the loom thats there. i have changed the door locking motor for a D8 one from scrappy but the central locking is still not working at all, i have changed the switches for D8 switches and plugged them in but the electric Windows still dont work at all on the passenger or drivers side, ive checked all the fuses and there all ok, should i change the window motor aswell or do i have a bigger problem as i would of thought the rest of the central locking and the passenger window would work even if the drivers door didnt have the loom plugged in to the parts
Thanks guys

Re: Electric Windows and Central Locking Not Working
Sounds like time for the Haynes wiring diagram and a multimeter I'm afraid

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: Electric Windows and Central Locking Not Working
hey guys anyone anymore ideas, im not sure what im checking with a multimeter as i would of thought even if there was no electrics in the drivers door the electric windows and central locking would still work in the rest of the doors, is there any relays, more fuses or any control units i can check??

Re: Electric Windows and Central Locking Not Working
So the loom in the door is the original D8 one? Or is there any more butchery lurking within??
You're right, the rest of it should be working. I can imagine the rest of the locks working, the windows too with the correct switches fitted. How many buttons on your plip? If it's got two it could well be something to do with the deadlocks 'cos I think that works the windows too...

Re: Electric Windows and Central Locking Not Working
The loom seems to be the original one, it doesnt fit the D9 window motor or e/w switches but it fits mine i currently have from the D8, none of the cars deadlocked as i can open all the doors manually just fine unless the systems went screwed up.
The plip has two buttons, one big and one small. The thing i noticed aswell is that the window switches dont light up at all either, im not sure if there supposed to but even the passenger one doesnt light up?
Thanks

The big button operates the central locking, if you press the smaller one immediately after it will deadlock the doors.Markt8 wrote:The plip has two buttons, one big and one small. Also you're correct; all the window switches should have a backlight. The rear ones go out when you press the override button.
It does sound to me as though the wiring has been botched or damaged, especially if you've checked all the fuses.
