HDi alternator belt routing
just to make matters worse, my alt belt snapped ,i can not work out witch way it goes on the pulleys ,its a 99 hdi with air con ,a picture or diagram would help alot .thanks steve

I dont have a picture but this may help .. from wikipedia search:
Starting from the crankshaft pulley and going clockwise looking at the pulleys, the belt goes thus: Ribbed side against the crankshaft pulley, then flat side against the tensioner pulley, ribbed side around the power steering pulley. Then the flat side against the idler pulley running ribbed side around the alternator pulley then down to the air con pulley running ribbed side around that and back to the crankshaft pulley.

I keep a complete spare HDI engine in my garage just to refer to when i need to do anything on any of my HDI cars !!, its a bit of overkill, but i rarely get stuck because of it
