opinions on metal head gaskets

Post by bigblue2 »

i know there are a lot of experienced pug people on here, so looking for peoples opinions on metal head gaskets, finally got around to getting the head off my 1.9td (what a nightmare), to my suprise there was only the faintest of marks on 1 piston despite the cam being snapped in 2 places, anyway had the head pressure checked and skimmed , all good, the guy at the engine shop told me the best gasket to use on these engines he has found is the metal multi layer
I know people on here recomend only ever using genuine pug item but just wondered if anybody has had any experience of using the metal type good or bad
Another question i wanted to ask is when i tok the head onto the bench a metal peice fell off , its about same size as a thu
mb from a glove and has a spring loose in it, where does that go back onto and which way would it go??? :?
thanks in advance for any advice

Better than marshmallow head gaskets :cheesy:
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
