Can someone help with this wire please!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Can someone help with this wire please!

Post by petecolli »

Hi all been having probs with my wipers since having the car so desided to have a look under the drivers carpet today to see if it was wet or not as so many people on here have said the this was a common prob with the cars! anyway all dry under there so had another look at the fuses under the dash and saw that a big thick red wire was just hanging there! (see pic) haden't noticed this befor so left it hanging there and started the car and noticed that the heater was not working now! so switched it off and pushed it in next to the thick black wire as i could not see were else it could go. started the car up again and the heater now works! BUT to me it does not look as if its ment to go there!

Can any one tell me if this is right or not please?
It won't let me upload the pic on to here so here is a link to it!

The book of lies shows the feed to F40, (from the ignition sw.) as a red wire, (+KK) - should be fairly hefty as F40 is rated at 40A. The wire from the other side of the fuse, is shown as a grey wire, (marked KH40) - this feeds the blower control module.

Is that PARCEL TAPE?

I'd suggest it being the result of a dodgy car kit/taxi kit install
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

What's wrong with parcel tape, it's a perfect insulator (for 5 minutes). I must admit I didn't notice that before, well spotted there Matt. I think you need to investigate further because a butcher has been in your wiring. I wouldn't feel safe in it for a start.

Are there any numbers on the wire?
