Hi, I have found a well looked after 406 hdi 110 rapier.
What are your view is this a good model? Anything to look out for?

Hi, are you 100% sure its a 110bhp? Most if not all ive ever seen/driven/worked on have been 90bhps. No intercooler and lack of large boost pipe across the top of the engine bay are dead give aways.
Dont be confused by the rear discs on the estates, My 90bhp Rapier Estate (late 2001 Y reg) has discs whereas the saloons have drums.
As for the drive, ive had numerous 406's over the past 10 years, from D8 1.9TD's, petrols, 110 Hdis and now my 90, and they all drive well, the 110's have a tad more midrange punch but 90% of the time you'd never notice.
Certainly the 90's seem a little bit simpler, ie no squeaking Dual Mass Flywheels etc etc.
Go for it if its been looked after and maintained properly, a full main dealer service history aint all its cracked up to be unless you can see copies of the invoices showing what works actually been done.
If its been cherished and drives well, go for it.

Just bought the car for my dad he is very pleased with it the drive on the car is very very smooth with no knocks or noises, we bought it off a elderly gentlement who was my dad's age he was an very nice guy to deal with he bought the pug 4 years ago with 50,000 miles and has now covered 121,000 miles and has an main dealer service history with service receipts

It is defo the 110bhp we carried out a HPI and that confirmed it. The only let down on the car is the seats don't have enough support for the legs

Service indictor resets to 12,500, so I guess it's 12.5k or 2 years between services. Heard various different figures for cam belt change interval, but most people seem to go for 72k. If you do the timing belt again, popular wisdom recommends changing the aux drive belt & tensioner while you're at it. I would also swap the water pump and seriously consider changing the dual mass crank pulley - at the very least, check it carefully.

Okay thanks for the head up, the service book is full and we were wondering where can we buy one from and would the service book start from the cars mileage or would they just give an identical one we currently have now?
I will keep the aux belt and tensioner in mind when we come to change the cam belt.

Servicing (oil changes) are every 12000, or 12 months if you don't do many miles. Twice yearly oil changes are highly recommended for any car i.e. one just before the winter and one in spring/summer.
Cambelts are every 96000 or 5 years.

Yeah the default settings for servicing is 12500 miles, i find that once they get past 100k, i do them every 10k regardless, or if my mileage is less, twice a year. The cost of some decent oil and genine filter means its pennies to do anyway.
I always cambelt change at 60k intervals, especially as its not a massive job on the hdi anyway. Dont forget to factor in a fuel filter change every now and again as well. (theres enough threads on here about how and what to do / not to do rgarding this)

So my car has not done 121,000 miles and the last service was done at 118,000 miles and I will be doing it at 127,000 miles so I was thinking what will need to be changed at this service, Is it just the oil and filter? And the service after 127,000 miles which will be 136,000 miles change the fuel filter, oil filter and oil.
Will get some pictures up as soon as the weather gets better

HPI will only reflect what it's registered as, not what it physically is - like my old MKIII Astra SRi which was a 2 litre, which was registered as an SXi 1.8 (even though there never was a MKIII SXi). Pop the bonnet and eyeball the engine is the only certain way - don't take the word of an organisation that has never physically laid eyes on the vehicle.

There really isn't much point buying the timing belt kit from Peugeot, chances are that you will be buying Gates or similar, so you may as well buy a Gates kit from a factor at a lower price.
