Hi, this may sound like a daft question but could anyone explain what the furthest left dial on my 406's (2.0 P reg) dashboard is for? It has 1 arrow and the dial has settings from 'off' to 'min' to 'max'. On starting the engine the dial lights-up and the arrow moves to 'max', holds there for a few seconds then drops to 'off'. I wondered if this might be some sort of choke system? I've no manual, I'm afraid.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
What does this dashboard dial indicate?

Hi there, that sounds like the oil level gauge, it turns off because it won't tell you anything useful when the engine's running.

deffo the oil guage indicates oil level before you start the engine then goes off 2.0 r reg saloon owner

Yes indeed, that is the engine oil level indicator. It only works on start up to tell you the oil level.Once the engine is running,it will go back to "min" or off.
