KEYFOB REPLACEMENT

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

KEYFOB REPLACEMENT

Post by marco2002 »

One of my keyfob buttons has perished i've had to stick a bit of stick tape where the large button used to be. Its the two button keyfob one large/one small with the red led. My question is i've seen a couple of keyfobs on ebay which match mine. Is it easy enough to just swap the plastic case over. the key blade and pcb inside the keyfob must come out too?
Just wanted to check to see if anyone else has gone down this road before. My gut feeling is it seems a bit too easy?

Any help or advice appreciated....

Thanks
Marco

I think that's about it, you need to change all the internals and blade over. You can actually get replacement buttons from Pug.

Easiest way is to just grab a similar key off ebay then just swap over the half of the casing with the buttons on. Piece of cake :)

I got a new case off ebay. The blade comes out of the old one by removing a small plastic wedge type thing but i found the blade was too big for the new case. As i couldnt make the slot bigger i filed the blade on the end instead to fit then used the screw supplied to fix it in place. Looks a thousand times better, the buttons always work so a good result. Dunno if they are all the same size blade or not.
