MFD Question

Post by legoless »

Hi
My clock/temp mpg etc LCD has started to miss some lines after an air freshener on the louvre above it leaked its contents down it so I`m guessing its probably knackered
I see there are some second hand ones on ebay for not too much dosh... can I pull out my mfd and replace with one directly or do I need to play with the BSI or have it coded to the cars ECU?
I dont use it for sat nav or radio info has the car has an aftermarket radio fitted and no sat nav
Cheers Al

hello,

from memory when my MFD on my first 406 was bleeding and cracked just get the same one from a breakers or dealer pop off the 2 plasic covers either side of the screen undo the 2 T20 screws unplug it then just plug in your new one etc etc they dont need to be coded at all they just display the information, make sure you get the same one though i know of 3 different types, a narrow 7 segment display one that my first 406 had then the normal screen which you probably have then theres the sat nav screen if you have the normal ones thats fitted to nearly all models its cheap and easy to come by

I tried my local breakers TD but they didnt have the sat nat version of the screen :( this included a fairly good one for pugs at Alperton .. still no joy for you, nut plenty of the normal 2 button jobbies which I needed. I`m based in the NW edge of London so thats the area I had a check around

No worries, but thanks very much for looking for me though, I will go back round my local breakers again this week to see if they have any new ones in
