Pics coming tomorrow.

I have a couple of small issues with it too that you might be able to help me with.

1) The passenger mirror goes off in some random direction when i start the car. Apparently its something to do with the memory part of it. i set i to my position but it flies off in some weird position each time. needs to be set or initialized somehow.

2)The off side headlight is nearly new and the leveler adjuster is pointing the light all the way to the bottom and thats as high as i can adjust it with the screwdriver. the n/s one is perfect.

The sound from the audio system is fantastic!!

Do you mean the bulb is nearly new or the headlight unit itself? If it's the bulb it's not seated correctly, take it out and put it back in. If it's the unit I think there's a motor for the adjusters that's connected by a ball joint type thing*, I'd bet that's not in right.

*I may be thinking of a different car, but it's worth a look....

She's a beauty. well done Eoin! :D
You're right about the mirrors, the position is stored with the seat memory; it moves them around when you press the preset button to find the saved position (even if they haven't moved!)

Cheers for the compliments everyone! Much appreciated.

I know what you mean Teamy about the paint fading. Not on this one though, its just the lacquer peeling on the bonnet. The paint is still as bright as ever all round. The headlight issue got sorted by adjusting the position of the headlamp slightly. And i took a little bit off the top of the adjuster. It is perfect now as i drove up to Dublin from Limerick last night in the dark. Love the projector headlamps too.

The mirror is still an issue. I know they're meant to flap around a bit when you start the car (Ithink thats really cool BTW) but what happens the passenger one is that it flaps about and then moves off into some position that its not meant to be in. every time. It doesnt matter what memory position I put it in. The bloke I bought it off told me it needed to be initialised or something. Any ideas??? Its fairly annoying having to adjust it every time I sit into the car.

Other than that, Its super. There is fook all power in the low range. Which is fine cos thats where I just cruise and save MPG. But when I put the foot down, all hell breaks loose after 4,000rpm and it pulls very well. (Mind you im coming from a 1.4 307 75hp). Still really happy with it though. The comfort is sublime and long journeys feel excellent just like my last 406 and the one before that! :D

My mirrors sometimes did a 'silly dance' when you put the key in. Try making the adjustment with the engine running and then press-and-hold the M and 1 button until it beeps - see how it goes.

Nice car BTW, but needs a new badge, here have this one ...............Image

I know how to set the memory position but it doesnt stay in that position after i start the car, even after they finish moving around.

The only thing I can think of regarding the mirror would be to adjust it fully to the right, then keep holding the thing down for about 15 seconds, then do the same to the left, top and bottom... If that doesn't work the only other thing I can suggest would be to disconnect the battery for a bit
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
