'Can I just expand my opinion on this 2 stroke debate?
Well, as a 'pro' I won't be using the 2 stroke because my son needs it for his scooter and If I bought some for my van he would nick it
If you believe it works then that's great, I don't believe anyone should rubbish your opinions or your choice whether to use it or not.
Personally, I can't see how it could affect the cat as a diesel cat is more of a particulate filter than a convertor, soot is more likely to block a diesel cat than anything else.
This is only my opinion and my last word on the subject, I don't wish to continue the debate.
I wish I'd not commented and that goes for all those who have problems with them and will continue to have when they pratt around with their motors. So that's it for me - last comment on the subject or any other.
I use 2-stroke oil on my tyres. It reduces friction with the road which makes it much quieter and gives me 12.992% extra fuel economy Also used it on my wiper blades to stop them juddering. Works a treat!
Going to put it on my brakes this evening, see if it can stop the squealing...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Me and Littlelad are just going to have to agree that we disagree !!, i believe that adding oil is beneficial and extends the life of the fuel components, and Littlelad thinks its smoke and mirrors and not worth doing, nothing wrong with differences of opinion, the world would be a boring place if we all thought the same thing.
Until someone does some proper scientific studies and proves it one way or another, neither of us can be sure we are right.
If it can quieten down my TDi when it's cold, I think it's worth a try... I'll have to find a reliable way of measuring SPL first though (I don't trust qualitative measurements!)

Don't take anything you read on here personally, this argument is mild in comparison to some we've seen!
Everyones opinion is valid and it's great to have such informative posts coming in.

Hello Teamster
Kind comment - I'm not particulary sensitive but I did not anticipate such aggression from a simple request for an opinion or even material known facts. Also I was more concerned that others took it sooo seriously and also I probably need to be more careful how I phrase things Most took the comments lightheartedly and Jasper rightly called it a "debate" but suddenly it turned into "Pub Brawl" - expletives, personal inuendo, whow, who wants to watch Coronation Street when it's all on here. If that's what using two stroke oil does for you I think it should be on class A drugs.
The typed or written medium is a nightmare for conversation (I hate texting and IM, the number of times you can type something & it's taken totally the wrong way!! )

Who are you calling a poof?
Outside now!
I know what you mean, I once e-mailed a mate in block capitals and couldn't figure out why he had the hump but it took someone else to explain that block capitals make an ordinary message seem a bit SHOUTY
Peace out brothers
Steve
