It always amazes me that people will put up with a new tiny joke car, rather than a 6-month old proper car they could have had for the same (or less) money. Is the 6 months of "oooh, look at me, I got the latest reg" followed by zero residual value really worth it?

Also, are the 6 months of "oooh, hang on, what was that? somethings gone wrong again" .....and back to the dealer really worth it? :)

Mine's got 22 months to go yet you cheeky bugger

I did toy with scrappaging the zook cos it's just sat in the garage and has barely turned a wheel in the last year, but of course the scrappage deal is all bull again. They give you 2 grand for your, maybe very decent, old car just to get you through the door and onto a finance deal that most people driving 10 year old cars can't afford. If you've got the cash there are better ways. The last new car we bought was 5 grand less than the stealer wanted just cos we got it from a car supermarket place, same model, same spec etc.... or I could give the stealer 3 grand more and a car for the same deal? I think not!

A mate of mine scrappaged a tidy 306 Dturbo for a Punto, I weep for the future....

This scrappage deal must be hurting the car supermarkets. Carshaft supermarket are doing 2 grand min part ex on "selected" cars. Probably crap cars they cant shift.

Just tail gaited a bog standard, flat red new shape Arsestra back from Thirsk, must of been running it in

That new Arsetray looks like they've copied the Golf to me.

Her indoors' Arsetray is the last of the old shape (53 reg) the value of that must be shyte now there's (yet another) new one out. Mind you hopefully by now they'll have the Arsetray about right cos hers is sh1t and the seats are *crippling*.

Just thought the Ashtray is due it's anual MOT and service end of March and also requires (yet another) cambelt kit as the last one (7000 miles ago) has a dodgy tensioner. That car has had more money spent on it than a Conservative's christmas party  oh and the tax runs out too

The only other 10 plate I've seen is another 3008 I saw in Rugby yesterday, which earned me a wave. This one isn't mine but came my way for 11 days by virtue of being the press officer for a large Peugeot club - the missus likes the 3008 and I'm considering a car with a little more elbow room as my new bionic elbow is stiff but also bloody tender, so I was able to blag it. A nice motor with bloody remarkable roadholding (it has some kind of active transverse linkage in place of ARBs), but is still a little tight for me so I'll probably chop the 308 for one for Mrs Tubbie, and try and blag a 508 to try on for size.

Despite usually buying new or up to 6 months old (the 40z is the exception, but was a rare and now unobtainable trim/engine combo) I couldn't give a monkeys about the new reg's. This is partly because the average Joe Punter doesn't understand how the new system works, partly because no one except new car buyers themselves really cares, and mainly cos I've cherished plates on all my cars anyway.

I spotted a 10 plate Bini Cooper on the M69 yesterday in fashionable off-white :| I had to do 95mph to stay with it :o

Then, further along was a 10 plate Jeep Patriot type thing :|

In summary, a dissapointment - where's the mind bleach again?

Anyone else think white is by far the most common colour on new cars? I saw just yesterday afternoon a Focus Zetec S, Merc C class, and a Shitroen C5 all 10 plate and in white. Quite liked the look of the C5 :supafrisk:

Give it a year i reckon white cars will be hard to shift because they'll be unfashionable and something like purple will be in
