That area is well covered by cameras for a number of reasons, if your insurance want to take it further there will something for them to look at, but be aware it will be unavailable if they leave too long, legally its 31 days iirc but from past experience its about 8 weeks they have the images for.

The scammer phoned me up today, to see if I was OK.....
He then starts saying I must have been going really fast...as the impact also smashed his dashboard and caused all the seats to bend. Must think I fell off a Christmas tree.
Now I've been 'rear ended' a few times in my life and I've never had an exploding dashboard or twisted seats.
Of course he'd also spent the night in hospital.

Its becoming ever more common.
We cabbies used to suffer this scam frequently as all of a sudden 4 non-existant passengers were claiming and a carful of 5 in front too.
So a total 9 claims all working together from one scam all for the price of a 50 quid banger with all the brake bulbs removed and a weeks worth of tempcover.
Howver CCTV in cabs now discourages half of this scam but the other still goes on.
The only thing you can do is carry a camera or use a mobile phone camera to bolster your case with evidence.
The alternative is be a good boy..drive carefully and keep your distance & get no-claims discount protection.
If I see a scummy looking car full of scallies then I hold back ......let them screw up someone elses day.

Recently a gang was caught & jailed near Manchester as they were targeting 'soft targets' like commercial vehicles and the elderly who were less likely to challenge the scammers. What caught the dickheads out was that they were performing the scam at the same roundabout (A34 at Cheadle)and office staff nearby saw the same guy getting hit by vans and pensioners constantly....!
