Cheap alloys, rear spoiler etc. etc.

Post by Mountain »

Well, just when things couldn't get any worse after my 'crash for cash' incident.......this week got even worse.
-
Now this is my own fault really  After tidying my front end up enough to make the car runnable and legal, I thought I'd take a run to the local scrappy for a replacement bonnet....my bonnet got the worse of the prang!
Bonnet catches were knackered on the slam panel so I got my fattest bungee, pulled it through the catches on the bonnet and wound it around the bumper reinforcer. It was very solidly held down.....
I set off, the country lanes way to the scrappy very slowly keeping a very close eye on the bonnet.
Big gust of wind....er....guess what. Snapped bungee, broken windscreen, dented roof, broken sunroof mechanism..
-
I decided to call it a day with the car.
So if anyone needs any 2.1td parts before I scrap it let me know.
-
I have a set of coupe alloys, locking nuts with very good tyres on. 2 x Dunlop Winter Sport and 2 x Pirelli P7s.
Proper Peugeot rear bonnet spoiler....the nice one.
Strut brace.
Almost new cat and exhaust mid section.
Lights.
I also have a front bumper, brand new bumper reinforcer, brand new headlamp surrounds and slam panel, Diablo red newish wing etc.
and anything easy to remove, take your pick.
Or if anyone needs a 2.1TD for spares mechanically it is sound.
-
I need to get rid pretty quick so I will be happy to let stuff go cheap.
I'm in Tadcaster between Leeds and York.

God, it never rains but it pours - my condolences to you, sir.

Does the strut brace make a big difference to the saloon? Is it an easy thing to fit?

Would the brace from your car fit my 1.8i D9, and if so, how much would you want for it (inc. postage to Aberdeen)?

Yaeh, that is the first time ever I'v had a bungee snap....right in the middle too, clean break. Would have been after I bought all the parts :x
-
Well after many years owning a 405 then a 406 I've decided to try something a little different.
Bought a Mazda Bongo Camper 4WD with massive bull bars on the front. I'm temped to weld some huge "Deathrace 2000" spikes onto this
Been thinking of a camper for a while so it's given me an excuse, I can just head off on a Friday night if I feel like it....well, if the wife feels like it. My 5yr old is excited though. I used to have a VW combi that I restored and have missed having a camper ever since.
Call it a mid life crisis if you will :cheesy:

The strut brace takes about 5 mins to fit.Just unscrew the torq nuts on top of your suspension strut, pop it in pace and screw 'em back in. Seems to make the front end feel more rigid and less 'dippy' when cornering. Just check that the dimensions are the same on the D8 as the D9 first. Also my bonnet just cleared it when closed.
Not sure about postage but you can have it for a tenner. Will post you a pic first though.

I've not had any bungees since a mate of a mate lost an eye to one.

Hope you have more luck with the camper! Great experience for your kiddie too :cheesy: Many years back me and some mates used to borrow one and head off up to Santa Pod, so much nicer than pitching a tent.

Hi,
Cat & midsection were changed before Christmas.
Apart from twisted rad and intercooler the engine is fine. Just been flushed had new oil filter and Mobil Super oil.
Also has a K&N filter that I've just cleaned and oiled..
If you want the car after I have taken the alloys and bits and bobs off that's fine. I'm not far from where the A!/M! merge. About an hour from Notts.
PM me concerning what you want to offer. I'm just wanting 'not to lose' too much money as I've spent quite a bit of time and money on the car. I'm not out to make a profit. I have a few bits and bobs in the shed too so can stick them in the boot.
-
Just popping out to take some photos. I'll stick them on photobucket and post a link.

Sounds good to me.

Does anyone know if a strut brace for a D8 would fit a D9?

Cheers
Graeme

Graeme
I'll measure it if you like.
Surely someone must know if the tops of the struts are the same or not. I expect they will be because I can't think Peugeot would have altered the basic structure that much for the facelift!

That'd be good, thanks - I suspect they'll be the same, but I'd rather check first. I'm definitely interested.
