HI,
I have a Peugeot 406 Coupe, 2000 year, 3.0L v6. My engine has recently got broken down and needs replacement. I know there are to different types of engines. One is 207 bhp and has a XFX code and the other one is 194 bhp with a XFZ code. Unfortunately the one I need is the stronger one, but it is impossible to find any. Hence my question.
Can anyone tell me if the XFZ engine could be fitted in my car instead of the XFX one without causing any problems?
Or alternatively, does anyone have the XFX one in working condition for sale?
Any help is welcome.
Cheers
Bart

Probably, with a big BUT. You'll need one with an ECU and engine wiring harness, and it must be from another D9 (sep 1999 on). I suspect you may also need to nab the transceivers from the keys in the ECU donor's vehicle at the very least. No distinction between coupe, saloon or estate is necessary.
FWIW, we don't tend to use the short VIN engine codes in pug land
The 194bhp engine is the ES9J4 and the 210bhp VVT one is the ES9J4S
