sat nav

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Either something wrong with the unit or maps disc (but usually it just says unable to read disc), or you're in an area that's not covered by the map. New build area? Old maps? Wrong region maps?

thanks for your reply i spoke to navteq they seem to think it could be the antenna at fault as it doesnt seem to be picking up the sats. ive just loaded another update cd in but still says the same i dont know weather to buy a new antenna off ebay and try that. :?:

Hmmm, far be it from me to question Navteq but that doesn't sound right to me. The "not digitised area" message implies that the machine knows where it is but that place isn't on the maps. Then again it could just be a default message, pug are fond of them. There's a diagnostic mode for the sat nav, should indicate if you're getting a signal or not, hang on....

Have a look at this excellent post by DeDragonSlayer, the bit you want is towards the bottom after the stuff about fitting it
