D9 Window Switch Wiring Into A D8

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D9 Window Switch Wiring Into A D8

Post by HimBigChief »

Right, just started looking at the window switches for the drivers side to control all 4 windows, rear window lock and also the electric mirrors. My first problem is the fact that on the 4 electric control gubbins on the D8 atm are 35 wires, and the new D9 controls only have 20 wires. Is there anyone out there who has done this mod who just happens to have what wires go where lying around? If not, does anyone have any other ideas on how to do this other than trial and error? Any pointers, advice, etc, etc? I have already done the other 3 switches, so I know that brown is usually +12V, but that's pretty much all I've got to go on atm.

Been trying to do this for the last 3 hours now and I'm starting to really struggle. :x Is there any nice peeps out there with a D9 with electric windows who could stick a multimeter across the wires and tell me which ones get +12V from ignition? Once I know this, I should be able to work through the rest of the wires easy enough.

Right, here's the list of wires on the 16pin connector so far, however I do have a couple of issues with differnet functions, so these are not gospel yet...

Pin: Function:
1 +12V
2 N/S/F Window Down
3 +12V
4 Not used
5 +12V
6 N/S/R Window Up
7 O/S/R Window Up
8 Lock
9 O/S/F Window Down
10 N/S/F Window Up
11 Auto
12 O/S/F Window Up
13 N/S/R Window Down
14 O/S/R Window Down
15 Not used
16 +12V

I'll get round to sorting the mirror wiring either Thursday afternoon or at the weekend and put them up too.
