406 ECU Remap Result

Post by sockpuppet »

Hi guys

Just got my 406's ecu remapped.

it was 90bhp standard, down to a pathetic 76bhp after just six years (and 78k miles)

remap cost me £200 (half price) with an extra £20 for the rolling road test.

managed to squeeze it up to 104bhp. not too bad, and a noticeable improvement. the guy says that if i fit the intercooler from a 110bhp 406 then i should be able to push the power up a little higher, aswell as harder acceleration for a bit longer. anybody know how easy these are to fit,and what I should expect to pay for an intercooler?

thanks

Where'd you get that done, A19 Test & Tune? How'd you get it done for half price? Quite fancy getting my 2.1TD remapped.

Think the 2.1 is a mechanical pump isn't it? Best option for that is to ditch the EPIC system and fit a Bosch pump.

at PDTuning in Boldon.

All stage 1 remaps are £199 until the end of March. I didnt have to book either, called this morning and within half an hour it was on the rolling road. Nice guys, clean place, theyve done a good job. If you want the rolling road they charge £50 but I said I didnt want to pay that sort of money and would they do it for £20 and he agreed straight away, no haggling. Print outs and stuff of the results so you can tell the difference.

I got 28bhp increase and 52ft/lbs of torque

76bhp is shocking, something not right there.

The 90 can easily be remapped to 120bhp normally.

Intercooler wise, this will help cool the charge air (more dense) so will allow them to inject more diesel (more power) it will also help keep a lid on combustion temps when your pressing on a bit. The rolling road will be essential after the I/C fitment so they can check for smoke. It can be fitted, someone on here did the same as you - got it remapped and THEN fitted the I/C...it made no difference because the fuelling was already set.

So youre saying I should get the intercooler all fitted, then go for another rolling road test? To be honest i was really disappointed that I was only getting just over 100bhp, especially being the week after a full service, and spending £200 on a remap

Had my 406 90 rapier done today by the lads at TD Performance in houghton le spring, and to be honest not bothered in the rolling road but driving the car is a much more pleasureable experience. Good thing was they come to me aswell. Result!!

Was 250 for bosch system and 300 for siemens due to the ecu having to be removed from the car. Mine was the siemens and got it done for the 250. They come to me and took maybe an hour to do the job.

I would like to get mine r roaded to see what its like.I had mine remapped to 140 bhp over 3 years ago now at 56k miles. It now has 120k.I`ve no idea whats its putting out,but i know it will beat a 59 reg Honda Accord 2.2d with 150 bhp, away from the lights on the A5 in Shrewsbury, pulling away from him no probs up to silly speed. And judging by the black smoke when the lights went green,he had it floored
I have Interpro just up the road from me.Might give them a ring.

Going to try and source an intercooler and piping from a breakers yard and fit that to the 90. Should also make it more interesting.

I've got an intercooler and piping off a breakers yard in my boot at the moment, just waiting to fit it at some point. got it from the 110. would love to know if it makes a difference, and how exactly it makes a difference.

The guy at the tuning place told me with the intercooler i should be able to accelerate harder for longer

Do you have the 90' bend that goes into the manifold? Its a metal pipe. Part of the EGR setup. You'll need it!
