Eoin, didn't they tell you?

All coupe-only parts attract a 400% premium, so as to keep the cost down for 'straight' 406's
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I come on here looking for a bit of compassion/empathy/understanding but all I get is more abuse. I have enough of this from my friends.

Names I've been called by my mates since I got the coupe

Hairdresser
Poor Hairdresser
Poser
Ronan Keating

Its just not fair.

Of course I know that teamy. Wasnt serious what I said

Apparently Ronan Keating used to own a coupe around the late 90's :o

The check strap issue is a common coupe problem on the coupe forum anyway. The hinge pin moves out of place on the drivers door and this puts the check strap under a lot of pressure over time. Mine makes a click when i open and close the door. It opens very rough. Absolutely wrecking my head. I'll install the new one tomorrow. It'll help me work off the hangover :)

List of jobs to be done to the coupe (Breathes in):

Paint wiper arms
Replace Windscreen (Guy called out today but forgot I told him about the rain sensor)
Secure drivers door card
Sort out horrible squealing window on drivers side
Window switch needs to be sorted (no2lurch)
Passenger mirror needs to be swapped with drivers to isolate problem with memory (teamys suggestion) - More to follow
Bonnet and wings need to be sprayed $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Tear in leather in drivers seat to be patched up
Engine cover from scrappy
Exhaust Rattle (Aparently its the exhaust manifold and a broken weld that needs to me done where the four pipes meet)
Full Service
Gear Knob change
Door strap install
HID kit install - Next month
Ashtray replace

If any of these things interest anyone, I will do a How To. Just shout for whichever ones you want done!

You forgot the oil consumption thing, that'd be top of my list followed by moving the car on quickly if not sorted :|

When I bought my missus her 2000yr 318i as a kinda surprise (she never did say thanks) there were one or two issues to be dealt with, one issue was the car 'wandering' all over the shop (this was the bushes in the aluminium wishbones) and another was a little drip of oil from the gearbox.

These two jobs were going to cost about £350.00, she wasn't getting on with the thing, so I shifted it on after just 8-weeks at a £50.00 profit 8)

I dunno, I'd just be keen to know the mechnicals are well before buying HID's n' stuff.

Well I think I took the risk with this coupe. If I have to spend only 350 to make the engine tip top then ill be happy with that. I didnt buy it for a whole lot of cash compared to other coupes out there. Trying to put in the check strap with shitty tools is not fun. I lost the two nuts aswell like I was warned would happen if i wasnt careful. Well the door card is still off and there is bits lying all over the car, it can wait till tomorrow. Beer time.

The dealers really are a rip off here. Citroen windscreen washers £2.50 each including VAT in the UK. €11.50 here!!!

Not happy.

I think that's a lesson we all need, never assume something's going to be reasonable from Pug, always ALWAYS ask the price. When I got my D9 the little temperature sensor in the OH console was noisy so I just ordered another, assuming that something small wouldn't be too pricey. Imagine my surprise when it was about 80 quid  :frown:

That check strap is coupe only, you might have got lucky with Ade but if it's a common problem perhaps not. The other think I know about check straps is you can never make them smooth no matter how much you mess about with them, so you could well have ended up where you are after a lot of ag.

Here's a weird one - conversely some things are cheaper than you think. I noticed the last time I washed my car that the black grille under the front bumper is a bit mashed. I just checked the price. Do I hear 40 quid? Do I hear 50?? No, 15.

Almost bought Ronan Keating's polaris V6 a few years ago outside of Sligo but it was drove out...

Eoin contact Donnelly's in Enniskillen they post out the parts to the republic

Personally I wouldn't replace the ashtray - the non smoker's console (which gives heaps of extra space) is @ £20 plus postage from Donnellys 8)

Well I worked on the Coupé a nice bit this weekend and I got the check strap in and working good. Still a little rough but its bearable. That really annoying mirror memory was simple. The mirror plug was not in its socket properly  Thats all. Also sorted the door card, window squeal, and electric window switch. Gave it a bit of a clean out and all is well. I had a trip up and down to limerick yesterday (260miles round trip) and it drove really well. Im so happy with this car. Fuel consumption is about 500 miles from a tank and that includes a lot of urban driving. Im ok with that but its no HDi. The oil consumption thing is annoying me still. Although the leak appears to have stopped. The Peugeot mechanic who sold the car to me wrote this email back when I asked him why the oil was empty shortly after I bought it.

"All 406/ 607 / 605 petrols, 2.0, 2.2, 3.0 all use a drop of oil & need to be checked regularly. thats a known fact, i havent checked that coupe for engine oil since i serviced it at 150,000."

If it uses a couple of litres every 1k then is that too bad?
IN8 wrote:Eoin contact Donnelly's in Enniskillen they post out the parts to the republic
Will do. Shocking how much they charge down here. Im gonna do that for a few things straight away. Pity I didnt realsie that when we stumped out €350 for a window regulator for a 607.

Ya I've seen the non-smokers console a few times. Not my cup of tea. I dont think it looks right. Plus the rubber pad on the ashtray is perfect for my phone and sunglasses 8)

Ha ha, was it in bad nick? He famously owned one. I remember seeing him in it on TV a few times

I just looked him up. Damn. I'll have to remember that next time.

Just ordered part number 1192T6 - Oil Breather Pipe, from Enniskillen (NI) for €34 including delivery.

The same part is €78 (excluding delivery) in the republic.
