Rubbish radio reception

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Rubbish radio reception

Post by BruceT »

My radio signal (FM) is pretty patchy in certain areas when driving, especially when stuck in traffic next to a high sided vehicle for example, also I sometimes get a high pitched whine!

Do you think i'd need an entire new aeriel base and mast, mast or just base?

Cheers guys

Hmmm, there are people here who know more than me about this but I seem to remember that some models had a signal amplifier in the base that tends to fail with age..... :?

Thanks, Jasper.

I'll take a look after work tomorrow as its now lighter on an evening.

Just gotta take the light and that little fan out before I can to the underside of the aerial base!

Mine's rubbish too, Jack FM is patchy everywhere I go, haven't bothered to be honest, I might get a new aerial from the Peugeot scrapper in Brislington.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

I'll probably end up getting new a base and mast at some point, if it stills remains patchy, ill put it down to Bradley Stoke been in a patchy area for FM.
