Well there y' go...

Post by Nicodemus »

So, I've packed up as an owner driver private hire geezer after 2 years plus, and a bit of percentage driving before that. Was losing about 30 quid a week (without allowing for insurance or depreciation) over the last 8 weeks or so.

I'm actually a dual badged driver (that is Hackney and Private Hire) so could have re-plated the car as a Hackney in theory, except that the nearest rank is 15 plus miles away, it would have cost me 103 quid to replate, plus inspection fee 35 quid, plus 250 quid for the meter plus x quid for calibration only to find my old girl won't qualify 'cause she's more than 5 years old, regarded as new introduction to fleet since I'm effectively surrendering one license then applying for a new one. Bah... No contest really.

So I've given up. Enough as they say is enough. Having been self employed for well over 15 years on minimum contributions, I don't qualify for any benefit whatsoever and quite frankly I really don't give a sh1t anymore. I'll find something by hook or by crook.

Keep the faith chaps and chapesses I'll be lurking.

Be seeing you :)
