Hdi engine temp sensor

Done a bit of searching but i seem to get confusing results ,& i have misslaid my Haynes
The last few days,only within the first few miles while the engine is cold after start up,i get the red stop light flashing,& the central display beeping with engine temp too hot,or words to that effect.
Water level fine,& temp gauge reads/works fine.Having recently replaced the oil pressure sensor i reckon the temp sensor just needs replacing too.Where would i be finding it to??

its on the left hand side of the block in coolant housing has a green wire connector

There's more than one CTS, one will be for the gauge and another for the ECU (which'll most likely be shot on yours). Don't know HDi's but there may also be a third for the gauge warning light

Easiest way to make sure you've got the right one is to unplug 'em one at a time

I had the same issues with my 90 hdi, stop light - beep - "coolant temp to high", even when it was stone cold.

The green coolantp tem sensors not too hard to change, make sure you order the little black rubber seal from Pug as well, cos they dont come supplied with one.

Its in the black coolant housing on the right hand side of the cylinder head, under the airbox.

The sensors help in with a spring clip, easiest way to do it is to whip the airbox out of the way - not forgetting to disconnect the Air flow meter first, then you can get to it easy.

You'll need some coolant to top it up afterwards as well.

there are 2 types one held by a clip and one screws in depends on engine type right hand side when looking from front of car

It has not come on for a week now,so i will keep an eye on it.Planning on doing the anti freeze this summer,so it it lasts,will change it then along with a new `stat.

Just an update.The fault still persists on & off.And yesterday,turned on ignition,& warning came on straight away before starting(cold engine)so defo the sensor.The other morning the warning came on,& so did the engine light with"anti pollution fault" & it went into safe mode,restricting engine revs.That fault has cleared now.But finding my Haynes,it says that if the sensor is faulty the EM light could come on & go into safe mode.Will try to source a sensor next week,& then do that,a new `stat & anti freeze,as well as a good service.
Can anyone tell me the correct anti freeze for it please.2003 HDI 110.Thanks
