Found the pics!!! :o

Errm, remove fastener things

Release the grille by using a screwdriver to press on the clips.

Offer up, measure, mark, measure again, grow testes, drill

Little self tappers and about a dozen washers to help hold it on, along with self adhesive strips IICR. Pop the grille back on and job's a good 'un.

Thanks Dai; that's really helpful. I wonder how easy it would be to get hold of one of these panels now? Looks really good, should definitely have been on the car to begin with

The chrome strips were standard on the last roll-out models of 53/04 reg cars. Peugeot fitted these along with chrome tail pipe trims, 16" wheels and satin grey effect dash inserts (hey don't spare the effort guys  ).

Anyhoo they should be readily available from your main dealer (except possibly a couple of days to order in for you).

I was led to believe that a D8.5 is a term used to describe a non-multiplexed D9. Mid 1999 - Mid 2001. Having had a looky on the coupe forum, that seems to be the consesnsus.
Urgh. ALL 406s are multiplexed to some degree - there's plenty of VAN bus lines in a 1996 D8. What those people insist on calling "multiplexed" is merely the replacement of the discrete stalks with a COM2000 unit, and like any other change (other than the major change that was the introduction of the D9) it just happened when they used up the old parts in the factory
steve_earwig wrote:I think the idea is it's neither one thing nor the other, the first one I saw when I joined up on here looked like a D8 on the outside but was a D9 on the inside, the worst of both worlds.
Yeah, that's what should be called a D8.5! I guess the D8s with factory-fitted D9 front ends could also be classed as D8.5
steve_earwig wrote:I think the coupes are different because the D8 "look" carried on for a few years. Not sure if I can tell the difference tbh
There's very little on the exterior to give them away other than the late D9 gaping mouth front bumper and the type of alloy wheel
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
