Re: d9 front end on d8
If it wasn't for the novelty of Auto lights / wipers and stereo controls, I'd be tempted to bin the Com2000 and fire on some D8 simple stalks

Re: d9 front end on d8
I'm very glad mine doesn't have a COM2000. So troublesome and expensive to replace... I can live with turning the lights on myself

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: d9 front end on d8
I think the COM2000 is a great set up. I had it in my 307 and I thought it was better than the old one. If only they'd sort out the reliability issue! 607s without Com2000 have auto lights. Could it be possible to retro fit a 607 indicator stalk and sensor onto a D9 and 'activate' auto lights on the BSI? Or is it more trouble than its worth. I think the sensor is a different shape so you might not be able to fit it to the windscreen.
On another note. I went into a Pug dealer to order a breather pipe for my EW10J4. The existing one snapped in my hand. The breather pipe is basically 8 inches of thin, brittle plastic with two plastic connectors on each end. I was thinking it'd be about €25 cos Dealers are awfully expensive here. €80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought some electrical tape there. That will do for now until I get to a scrappy in Limerick in a couple of weeks

I might have to pay the best part of £500 for a PAS pipe. A F***ING PIPE!!!eoin27 wrote:The breather pipe is basically 8 inches of thin, brittle plastic with two plastic connectors on each end. Re: d9 front end on d8
Is there anything special about this pipe? If not, can you see if you can get a stainless steel copy made up by a metalwork company, rather than shell out for genuine Pug piping?

Or get it fixed by a hydraulics co. It'll probably howl like mine did but it'll give you breathing space until you can source a real one.

Re: d9 front end on d8
may be a late reply as it was a long holiday here for new year festivals and I was away from online life ;)wilko wrote:just a quick one has any body ever replaced the whole front end of a d8 with a d9 front and if so was it easy im thinkin along them lines as i have just been offerd a d9 in the same colour as mine for spares or repair on a 52 plate its been in and out of garages for about 12 months and the owner is just gettin stressed and wont rid cheers rob
Yes, I've done this once and all I replaced were, headlights, bonnet, grill, bumper, slam pannel and the latch, Bumper inner pannel is too needed to replace but my tinker did a small modification so that will allow D9 bumper to fit into D8 inner guard. He also did small modification to the wings to suit D9 light edges. Further, i had to extend the bonnet release cable.
here are some pics of the job in progress (note the head light surrounding of the wing)

and this is after finishing.
