Bye all.

Bye all.
I'm getting less and less enthusiastic about motor cars and even less so about listening to and sorting out motor car problems, getting fairly depressed about the job to be truthful, seems like there's aggro with everything these days.
So, I've decided to leave all this stuff to other folks, there are lots of very capable people on here anyway, I think my usefulness has run its course.
I've enjoyed helping out when I could, would have been good sometimes to have got feedback as to whether my advice was useful or not, or whether I was correct in my diagnosis (very difficult to diagnose problems without seeing the car, especially noises).
I enjoyed the banter with the egos that wanted to talk technical stuff, some folks talk nonsense disguised as technical info, but my methods are my methods learned from years of hands on experience, not from books or Wiki.
Thanks to those that helped me with my 406, I learned a fair bit as well.I don't have a 406 any more, but I am a member of the 407 club, I've only made a couple of posts in there, pretty pointless really.
Anyway, time for me to take my leave.
Bye everyone, take care, and here's hoping that nothing too expensive goes wrong.
Thanks for having me.
John.

Oh no!!! We're all doomed, DOOMED I tell ye
Nah, that's fair enough mate, it was reassuring to have you about with your words of wisdom but if you've had enough of it then off you go.
You take care of yourself John, feel free to drop in and have a giggle at our struggles

Noooo, you've been awesome in diagnosing faults on here. I've only been on here for just over a year and you have stood out as one of the more knowledgable members and rightly deserve the respect.
Sorry to see you leave so Gods speed an all that.

Re: Bye all.
You sound as though you need a night on the town with your mates jasper, chin up chap!
I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling so low, that's not a nice place to be.
You've probably gathered that the vast majority of us come here for the banter, I've certainly made a new circle of friends that I've never met in person! (Well, barring Alex & Tom
)
There's no need to be a stranger, there will always be clashes in personality and the last thing you want to do is take that personally on a faceless internet forum.
Take good care of yourself John

Re: Bye all.
Just won't be the same.
As the others said, don't let it get you down. I can appreciate how frustrating it must be to have some of the less well-informed users arguing with you when you know you're right, but don't underestimate the genuine benefit your help and advice has been to many of us, (myself included), who really value your contribution.
Really sorry to hear you're leaving us to our mis-informed tinkering, (which will all the more risky without the safety net your expert advice has been for many of us).
I hope you'll reconsider and look in now and again - you are much more than welcome.
Take good care of jasper and better care of yourself, John.

Re: Bye all.
I can understand that after a belly-full of customers and stuff at the garage all day then the last thing you need is more of it in an electronic form on here
I can also understand (to an extent by chatting with my garage) the way car repairs and servicing is going these days with customers expecting miracles in a 10-minute time frame, expecting to pay £2.50 for a cambelt change, forgetting to give you the locking wheel nut key, adding more jobs to the list at the last minute, then your just-in-time suppliers letting you down with the wrong belts/filters etc .....it all conspires to rub you up the wrong way over time
Sometimes it only takes a few days away from things to re-charge your batteries and feel 500% better. I think we all work too much these days and coulped with a very very long and grim winter this year it's easy to see how one can get pissed off.
I too at the moment greet every new work enquiry I get as a huge "meh" instead of seeing it as an oportunity or challenge but knowing also that I'll be getting calls within a few days asking "where's my price, we sent you the enquiry 4 days ago?"...I mostly feel like telling them to f*ck off
My Mother said to me recently....no-ones grave stone ever read; "I wish I'd have spent more time at work"
All the best John

I've not been involved with the forum on a regular basis until recently, so can't say I know you to have banter with, but I do know that I respect everything you say, and know if a question is asked, and there is a response from you, it's definately worth reading as opposed to skimming over.
Stay around dude, but have a breather for a while.
You're going to be surely missed, and the forum will be losing a highly valued member if you go

As everyone else said, take a breather but don't be a stranger, I'm thankful for the posts you've added to, every one has been a worthwhile read and I can't imagine the forum without you

Re: Bye all.
Thanks for that Soops, things just just got on top of me, people owing money, jobs being difficult, awkward customers, etc.Plus my mother in law in hospital, now diagnosed with bone cancer along with dementia she already had....we had to find a care home for her before she could leave hospital....£430 a week...now we have to sell her house to pay for her care ....rip-off councils
I'll be around now and then.
