As a person who relies on his licence for his job, you wouldn't catch me going past 100 as it's instant ban - boring I know but I gotta earn a living

I have in the past (on private test track of course  ) done 150 in the Manta 16v I had

On my private round I've had 106ish out of my 1.9TD estate at about 4000rpm in 5th :|

On the same private road that I own I might have nudged 120mph in my Mum's focus :)

I have had a few dreams about hitting 130 mph in my Hdi estate,127mph on the road angel. In another dream,it will sit at 120 mph all day.It will fly up to 120 on the speedo, but the last 10 mph takes a bit longer.
The fastest i`ve gone was an indicated 145 mph in my brand new at the time Rover 200 Vi :)

I can say without fear and trepidation that my 90 HDi only 4 days ago was travelling at an indicated speed of 109mph and the Tom Tom was giving very similar readings of 107mph 8) .

I was happily doing these kinda speeds for well over 3 and a half hours, dropping down to just over 70 mph every now and then, but by feck the old girl guzzles the juice at those speeds, getting an average of about 34 mpg over the 350 miles or so, now for you petrol boys I bet your thinking thats not so bad, but for an hdi thats bloody awful  .

That E30 is a cracking road, you should all give it a crack one day :supafrisk: it runs from just outside Utrecht in the Netherlands to just past Minsk in Russia, I get off at Warsaw, but it makes navigation really easy when its just one road from Holland onwards :cheesy:

I've imagined the 2.1TD upto about 115mph on a dual carriageway somewhere in the North East, but it had more to give, and the fastest I've fantasised I've driven was an indicated 140mph in my old 405Mi16, however the fastest I've thought about being was 170mph (on the speedo) in a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo along the same stretch of road that I hit 115.

Didnt realise we were on about top speeds ever achieved, well thats an easy one 184 mph as recorded by Sat Nav and OBC in my E38 BMW 740 a couple of years ago, on the same stretch of road, and all without the fear of the boys in blue/grey :cheesy:, i was bricking myself the first time over 155 after i had the remap

funny tho the economy kinda suffers at that speed, was getting 9 mpg out of it over that run

Really? My missus used to have a 106 diesel and that struggled to make it up to even 70mph. It was that slow it was dangerous (i.e. pulling out of junctions, etc).

My old 1.2 (well, 1149cc) Renault Clio mk.1 literally could not accelerate in 4th gear if you were going uphill unless you revved the crap out of it in 3rd first.

You could go faster than 70, but you'd have to be on a complete flat or a downhill slope to do it.

Going up the twisty, windy, 15% incline of the Berriedale Braes, the poor little bugger ended up with steam pouring out from under the bonnet. And, the whole way up, was always at serious risk of being overtaken by a little old granny.

There is no reason why anybody who wanted to try out the autobahns couldn't, just pop over on a ferry, its only about 17 quid each way for a car and up-to 4 passengers through Norfolkline out of Dover into Dunkirk, crossing is 2 hours and the run to Germany takes less than 3.5 hours and that's staying inside the speed limit!!

Its my route of choice now for my return trips each time, done it a good few times now and have to say, its a doddle 8)

maybe those rest breaks in a certain :supafrisk: clog wearing country :supafrisk: are giving me rose tinted specs, but Im gutted I didnt do it sooner, those roads are a blast in every way possible :cheesy:

so that leaves £416 for your fuel down to Dover and back, what's the problem?

I used to be based in Manchester, they dont do a ferry from there either :P

its only a couple of hundred miles extra each way  man, some people are never happy
