Filler cap open message

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Filler cap open message

Post by johnboy »

Hi

I got the fuel filler cap open message after my old filler cap broke i had to use a cheap one for now, but have since brought a genuine cap and i still get the message.

Does this have to be turned off through the computer?

thanks

The "genuine" cap should have a magnet in it to turn the light off :?

Oops :( You could always just short the sensor wires.

I've no idea what year they started with the filler cap sensors, it's only really important on a 2.2 HDi anyway. Can't see it being a problem in the MOT anyway.

Those rolled-up flower jobbies have been an mot fail for years, not surprising as they don't actually do very much.

I don't think you'll find the right one at a breakers.

They came in around 2001 I think although we found a while back that some cars had it and some didn't. Even some 110 HDi's have it I think, and I'm sure DaiRees Petrol one has it? :?

Ask for a price from your local Peugeot Dealer - don't laugh, sometimes the stuff can be pleasantly cheap :o
