Seat Airbags

Post by waue1978 »

If you had a car fitted with the airbags in the seats & replaced them with a set that didn't have the serat airbags, would this cause the airbag warning light to flash up on the dash?

Good job I checked then. Damn - 406s are so limited when it comes to upgrading things. Best make sure I get seats from a post 2000 model then. Pity though, because there's a really nice set on Ebay from when they didn't have the horizontal seams & they look a lot comfier than the later ones.

You'd get a Sausage warning on the dash.

I know what you mean about the flat-shaped older seats, they do look nice BUT I think they could give you a sweaty back because they are dead flat. I don't even want to mention sweaty cobblers; no-one needs that

You could always pull the fuse on the whole system (didn't someone say a while back that they're not part of the MOT?)

My bro's 1.9 flew thru the MOT yesterday after I sorted the airbag light:

Attempt 1 - disconnect airbag ecu - no flashing light 8) it just stays on all the time.
Attempt 2 - out wiv the clocks, swap bulb to door open indicator position, sorted. 8)

Unfortunately, he spent 3 hours trying to get the other rear fog to work. Assumed the lamp unit with no hole for the bulb was a nasty Chinese copy or similar, so carved a hole in it, fitted lamp & it still didn't work.....

Car passed tho, cos ya only needs one
