If you press the buttons it should raise/lower about an inch at a time. Raise it to the top, then hold the button for a few seconds, then lower it and do the same. Your windows should be working as expected now

the windows will not move at all on the switch which i seem to think is odd i have tried the holding down of buttons anyway but nothing and its only since removing battery
i get a noise from the drivers door when button is pressed but no movement

Edit: Doh! Of course you can't put your window down to carry out the reset! Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes, reconnecting and having another go?

yeah just tried that im going to leave batt off over night see what happens but im thinking it could be either switches have gone tits up or possibly an earth wire problem as if i lock car from inside and push window switch down the car unlocks
but its too dark to carry on investigations but did find out heater matrix hose has develoed a leak where it goes into the heater matrix under the bonnet oh it never rains it pours
