Re: RCZ
I went onto the configurator last night, they do a realy lovely light blue leather interior on the GT spec, even the dash is leather.

Re: RCZ
I wonder if it'll be one of those Peugeots worth £24K one minute and £2K the next
If the supply is restricted somewhat then maybe it'll hold its value (like the 406 coupe?).
I think they've been a bit gay with the engine choice and I'd have liked to have seen a 4WD version with >300bhp.

Re: RCZ
It gets my vote, and I think at £20k starting price, I think it'll sell well.
Wouldn't be surprised though if we see them for under £10k on the second hand market in 2 years time.

Re: RCZ
Id go for the RCZ everytime. I'd say it handles very well and with a 156hp 1.6, I'd say its not slow either.swiss wrote:So, one of these or a 406 coop?
In 30 years time, none of those things will matter and the 406 coupe will emerge as the best looking Peugeot ever made!! (406 saloon/estate close second). When we went to our local dealer to pick up the 607 some time ago, the dealer sat there looking at the 406 we came in with and said they were the best Peugeot ever made.

406 Saloon will still be a handsome old car like the 504 is.
I think there is an acknowledgement that the 406 was the pinnacle of Peugeot carmaking. Good looking, good handling, good ride quality, (generally) reliable, well built, quality materials.
They really dropped the ball with the 407, I hear this a lot from people I talk to when they hear I have a 406, that they had one as a company car, great car, but the 407 was always at the garage. Some ended up with Megane estates or runout-special diesel Vectras

There was a similar air in the Citroen camp about the Xantia being the best built large car, until the latest C5 came out and started to prove itself.

I take it you've test driven an RCZ then?eoin27 wrote:Id go for the RCZ everytime. I'd say it handles very well and with a 156hp 1.6, I'd say its not slow either.swiss wrote:So, one of these or a 406 coop?

I've been looking at the stats and 150 odd BHP from a 1.6 litre engine is awesome. Considering the 406 2 litre lump only developed 136bhp without tuning.

Re: RCZ
Havent driven one but I will definitely do it some saturday. I think i'll take the petrol one out as Ive never driven that engine before but driven plenty varieties of the DW10

Re: RCZ
I'm afraid I have to disagree here guys, I think the 405 was peugeots pinnacle 'so far' as far as saloon cars go. I think it was better looking, handling and built than the 406 saloon. On two occassions I've had 406 owners approach me at petrol stations and offer me money for the 405. 407 owners have never approached me to buy my 406.lol.I do agree that the 406 coupe is drop dead gorgeous though and will be a timeless design.sirwiggum wrote:The 406 Coupe will be a beautiful classic like the 504 Coupe is.eoin27 wrote:Id go for the RCZ everytime. I think if I was in the market for an RCZ I would have a word with myself, buy an autotrader and search for a V6 406 coupe. No doubt its probably slower than the RCZ but the sound of the V6, the way it looks and the thousands of pounds I'd have saved would soon make me forget that

Re: RCZ
I must admit, the 406 Coupe is and always will be timeless. And I'm not saying that because I own one.
When they're all shined up, they can hold their own beside brand new cars, common or rare alike. It has just the right sort of lines that make it difficult to tie it to the 90s or 00's in styling cues, on the outside anyway. The dash does look very 90s though and unless a cost effective way to change the dash is invented, then it'll be stick with that.
I'm not sure with the same will go for the RCZ. A lot of the modern cars start to look dated after about 10 years. We shall have to wait and see I suppose.

Re: RCZ
The 405 was indeed a great car. Probably the savior of Peugeot. So good that it is still being sold in Iran as the Peugeot Pars!
The 406 coupe is a work of art.
As for the RCZ - I get the feeling that pointy headlights will date quickly. Why can't Peugeot go back to horizontal lights? - http://www.salon-auto.ch/fr/premieres/p ... -171-17144

Re: RCZ
It's all about the corporate look now.
That is where the 406 coupe stands out. It does not follow any established peugeot corporate design, so to speak.
It's loosely based on the corporate look at the time it was launched, but is different enough that it is it own look.
Thats why the RCZ will age quickly as in a few years and Pug will have changed their corporate design again. When that happens, anything in the old style will instantly look dated, literally overnight.
It happened to the 206 as soon as the 407 came out and started the current design lineage.

Re: RCZ
They need to sort their current design language out, because pointy lights that end halfway up the bonnet are so 2000s.
The pre-facelift 307 looks dated, whereas the facelift 307 and the 308 look identical!
Renault are guilty of doing the same thing re: changing design languages, notice how the previous Megane now looks dated.
The 406 coupe has something of a family resemblance at the front to the 106 and 306 facelifts. Overall it works well as a package, and those cars were conventionally styled.
