Defrosting the Freezer....

Post by Welly »

Now 'single living at home guys' can look away now but our freezer is currently looking something akin to a Polar Icecap (sprinkled with peas, and the odd twist-tie :? ) there's barely any room left for food

Anyhoo her indoors has been bending me ear about it for quite sometime so I need to tackle it this weekend.

In the past I've used pots and pans of boiled water, close the door, and then wait, change water, wait, wait......... :( but is there a better way?

Whilst she wasn't looking I unloaded 1/2 can of car de-icer from the garage only to find it had a hint of Blue colour to it (and stank) so kinda scraped over that in a 'man testing the job' kinda way

(I guess this is where everyone says that they've got the exact same job to do too  )...........

Single guys don't have freezers? I did

I don't let them get too bad but I just use a fan heater. Obviously you don't want to cook the inside of it and it's an idea to let the inside cool down before you turn it on again.

Or there's the hot puppy technique:

I meant single guys would never defrost a freezer? :)

Hair dryer type thing sounds a good idea - hadn't thought of that.

I am billy-two-freezers I am, one in Kitchen and one in Garage and both looking like Ice Bergs

Oh and Puggy, you need to get out more

My fridge/freezer is frost-free.

Bought myself a nice big American-style fridge-freezer by LG.

My last fridge freezer decided it would be funny to cut out completely just after I went to bed, then switch on about 1 hour before I get up. Net result - the fridge appeared to be cold, but by god the milk was curdled completely, and the whole unit smelled like butchers' shop after a week-long power cut.

You must get 'real' milk where you live cos the stuff we get in the midlands would last a 2-week holiday in a hot wheely bin

Since when has this become a "man's job"??

Just asking, you see light fittings, car repairs, sockets, doors, building work or similar D.I.Y yes I see the point, but in our "harmonious household" this blatantly falls under cleaning and general housewifey type stuff :supafrisk:

now it may be coming across that I'm a sexist male chauvinist pig type chap, but in my defence over here this sort of thing is definitely "women's work" I knew there were more reasons why I married a Pole :cheesy:

I do all the cooking (she can burn water  ) and everything car or Pc related along with the extensive list at the top of the page, but this??? I'm just really surprised it falls under the "man's work" heading that's all.

And Puggy, Welly is right you really do need to get out more mate.
