He called my Volvo dull

Great story there bailes!

You're right about the T5, very swift but otherwise a bit uneventfull. I think Volvo tried a bit too hard to make everything perfect and left it kinda souless.

Driving my 406 would be exciting as each new knock, squeek or bang would send fear through my heart and I'd wonder if I would make it home :? but of course I always did get home and the car was a faithful old servant and I miss it still.

You're kidding aren't you?

406 estate you can just park in a multistorey, drop the back seats, chuck a single mattress, duvet and pillow in and have a nice night's kip! I used to do it now and again when going to gigs. Saves a lot of money on B&Bs/hotels too!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

It could be adapted to a dual-purpose test too whereby the sleeping AND suspension is tested   :supafrisk:

I think May and Hammond did an overnight in a smart forfour before.

My mates used to call my D9 saloon "Hotel Peugeot, Room 406". Just flip down the back seats and lean against them having your feet go down into the boot. Two can sleep side by side while another sleeps in the front passenger seat reclined. Its very possible and I did it a few times. You wont get a great nights sleep if you dont have pillows and a duvet though.

You forgot the bit about dead people - she's loves the Bonzos :P :cheesy:

In the canyons of your mind
I will wander through your brain
To the ventricles of your heart, my dear
I'm in love with you again

Cross the mountains of your chest
I will stick a Union Jack
To the forest of your chin
Through the holes in your string vest

My darling, in my cardboard coloured dreams
Cardboard coloured dreams
Once again I hear your laugh
Hmm, hmm, hmm
And I kiss, yes I kiss your perfumed hair
She's not there
The sweet essence of giraffe
Of giraffe
And each time I hear your name
Frying pan, frying pan
Oh Mama, how it hurts
He's in pain
In the wardrobe of my soul
Of my soul
In the section labelled "shirts"
Ahhh-ah

Worst thing about sleeping in the car (in the UK at least) is that you cannot drink.

Otherwise you are technically drink driving

And don't forget to turn the ignition and the climate control off again! :)

I thought you're ok, as long as the keys aren't in the ignition?

You can actually be done for being "drunk in charge" if you just have the keys in your pocket

I suspect greater than you'd think.

The trouble is she'd never even heard of the Bonzo Dog Band before she met me, I just don't like driving in silence so I have to have music going. My wife hates all of it though, I surreptitiously leave it going sometimes, just to try it out. Out of my vast range of music (and I like anything so long as it has depth or amuses me in some way) we have the Bonzos and Creed. That's it. As I said, she likes music by dead people - that's Elvis, The Beeeatles and OpErA (music by dead people for dead people), although she never actually listens to it and doesn't so much as possess one single. I tried her out on Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds the other week, it's cheesy as heck but easy on the ears and it has dead people in it (- narrated By Richard Burton, Phil Lynott's in it too) so a sure fire winner you'd think. Wrong, it made her head hurt :(
