Fans??

Just drove for no more than 5 mins and less than a mile and my engine didn't even touch 70 degreess. When I got home the fans were on after I switched the igniton off and 5 mins later they are still on. I've restartedd the engine and unplugged the sensor a few times to no avail. Surley they shouldnt come on?

you might be lucky enough to have working A/C and I have heard from far too many friends back in the UK that its a bit warm there right now, maybe its something to do with this??

Fans running full tilt with the sensor unplugged is normal, perhaps the sensor's gone up the swannie.

Fans havent gone off at all; pulled the fuse out and dropped it off at my mechanics

As Steve says, it's most likely the case that your car has multiple coolant temperature sensors (the V6 has three - one for the ECU, dash gauge and dash gauge overheating light!) and your ECU one has gone south. About £30 from the dealers or £20 from ECP/GSF if they have one. You'll also be looking at a coolant top-up and bleed...

Another cause could be a stuck relay, but that shouldn't happen at full speed unless the car's had reason to engage full pelt mode, so it's unlikely

It was just fan 1 that was on as I found out. I think the brown sensor is the ECU one iirc

Just the one? Damn, where's my Haynes? I can't remember which way round it is but mjb could be there with the stuck relay.

Right both fans seem to come under the fan 1 fuse? There both on all the time.

I've taken the car for a drive with the fuses out and it seems to have sorted it out?
