Crumbs! Why do they take it out on the car?

It still looks fantastic though.

If you don't ask me asking, what is the ball park figure for a partial respray? Thinking of getting my nearside doors professionally done as I cannot find a good spray match.

I'm going to be the woman here and say that she's taking out her frustration on the car due to the amount of time and effort you are spending on it. It's a child-like reaction aimed directly at the cause of her worries - the car!

You should not fix the car for some time, eventually she will come round and see that it was foolish and will engage in having the car repaired.

You shoud sit her down and explain that you love her (assuming you do) and that maybe you had let your hobby take a little too much time recently. Also explain that many men would be out on the Golf course or out on the piss all day whereas you are still at home (albeit outside with the car) but you are not far away if she needs you.

I have to balance my car cleaning and such with equal measures of housy/daddy stuff so that I can't be criticised for being selfish. I also clean her car up and check it over etc so she knows I'm not being selfish. Sometimes I'll be outside at 07:00am on a Sat/Sun so I can get my car 'fix' before the kids start their day.

Basically, she doesn't like the attention you're giving to the car and her frustration (over something else I would say) has forced this extreme reaction but as I say - Don't fix the car yet, you'll be playing right into her hands.....

Well, being 26 y.o. Ive never been married and have no kids (that I know of) so I cant give my opinion on what to do but welly has a point. If it was my gf, i'd kick her out as quick as I could. No one messes with the ride. No one.

I remember a few years back when my dad owned my eventual D9 HDi, some young scumbag gave the rear quarter a knee and made a huge dent. I didnt see it happen but I'll never forget my anger. My worst temper tantrum of all time took place when I reversed my dads 607 into the window sill and did 2.5k worth of damage. He didnt even bother giving out to me cos I was so angry at myself.

But ya, welly seems to have a good point here.

or if she doesnt have one how about a hire car? or am i just taking the p!ss now?

its easy being this far away to come up with these things, but its you that has to sleep next to her.

I had a girlfriend once who woke me up just to tell me "if she was evil this is when she would do it"

suffice to say i wasn't with her long, i love my sleep and paranoia is the last thing i need before dropping off.

£180 is a good price. But being without a car is like losing your legs. I remember the Alfa when it was always parked up needing repairs.

The coldest winter ever + buses = not a happy bunny.

Glad you are getting it sorted Gary406!
