Speedo
Hi, driving back this evening across the belgian/dutch border I noticed my speedo decided it wasnt working. I know most belgians dont care if their speedos work or not but this puzzled me. Gave a tap (more like a thump) on top of the dash and seconds later it came back to life. Dont know if the thumping did anything or could it be the dodgy french soldering on the connections. Anyone else had any problems with this. Coming back to the uk on Friday so I know at 3000 revs in 5th i'm doing roughly 70mph!!!. Car is a 2001 1.8 16v. Cheers
Re: Speedo
Could be a dry solder joint on the instrument cluster?
What part of Belgium you from?

Re: Speedo
When you cross the border into the Republic of Ireland you have to start using KM/H. Maybe your speedo was doing a similar border check

Does seriously sound like a bad electrical connection though.

Re: Speedo
my clocks went tits up few months back , turned out it was a lot of dry solder joints on the circuit board, very easy fix ,
could be the speed sensor tho on top of the gearbox
