Going to have to check out some mathcore bands... it's a new one to me!

Random entry - just acquired for meself a copy of Strike by the Baseballs. Massively awesome CD, as if Elvis and Shakin' Stevens had a baby and raised the child on Now compilations.

Plus it winds up the missus, so it has to be a good thing.

Ive got a couple of their albums and they do a good tune.

Some of the many, many bands I like:

Dream Theater
Transatlantic
Rush
Yes
Spock's Beard
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
Queen
The Beatles
Demians
Frost*

Mostly progressive metal and rock music. I am a drummer myself (though my kit is still at my parents house up in Thurso, as I don't have room for them in my flat in Aberdeen), so anything that has an interesting rhythm or odd time signature or a funky beat to it is literally music to my ears.

And yes, I do the drums-on-the-steering-wheel thing, all the time :)

I wouldn't call Iced Earth prog in the slightest - just heavy power. Have you heard Pyramaze? Grab their 'Immortal' album - it has Iced Earth's Matt Barlow doing vocals, and has been one of my favourite albums for the past couple of years :)

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now taking bets on how long it is before Highlander gets a face full of airbag :cheesy:

I do worry about that, actually

Does it make any difference if I drum on the rim of the wheel rather than on the airbag/horn pad in the middle?

That said, I saw an episode of Mythbusters once that showed just how difficult it is to trigger the airbag (basically you need to smack the car into something in order to deploy it). However, my 406 didn't see that episode, so I guess it remains unconvinced.

You wont deploy the airbag so drum away! Did anyone ever see that ad where the man was beeping at the old woman crossing the road and she smacked the front of his merc with her bag and the airbag went off. Classic ad but completely impossible. The airbag 'sensor' is under the centre console (in most cars anyway) and it detects a sudden change in velocity and deploys the airbag.

Im sure that nearly everyone here knows that so this post could be a contender for the most useless post of the year awards.

I know in the early days of airbags the Merc's used to go off if you braked really hard

If the loch was near Thurso and was quite big, it's probably Loch Watten

I'm living in Aberdeen now and am glad to be - Thurso has sod-all to do in it, and no real employment prospects...

...unless you want to have a "career" in a BT/Manpower support helpdesk where the management almost have a license to treat you like crap (been there, done that, wasn't any fun). The other alternative requires you to be useful to the process of decommissioning sodium-cooled prototype fast-breeder reactors (I'm not).
