I have the JBL setup and its pretty loud too but the fader and balance option is to adjust the sound so you get the most from all speakers. The way you have it set at the moment, you're hearing the speakers in your corner of the car more than the speakers in other corners

So has anyone got any recommendations for replacement speakers? Been thinking about buying new ones, but I don't know anything about car audio, really.

I would be looking for same-size, same style of connector, as I wouldn't want to make any modifications to wiring or the doors/parcel shelf. Just looking for better quality speakers with better range; bit more bass would be nice if possible.

I have a nice Sony head unit with "Xplod", whatever the hell that is. Buying that made a good bit of difference over the stock Philips head unit as I guess it has a better graphic equalizer / amp in it.

EDIT: Are these compatible / any good as a replacement for my door speakers?

I can get a pair of 'em for £30, and the one review I did see of them seemed to be pretty favourable. A nice 3-way speaker that has decent frequency range with good bass.

thats the place to go, brilliant prices all my gear came from them

if your upgrading speakers you will have to buy a wire that plugs into the cars standard plug and then into your aftermarket speaker, otherwise do what i did (cut the standard plug off and solder on the plug you get with the speakers)

JBL or VIBE are my recommended always had these and never had a problem,

in terms of head units SONY are great, but ALPINE are the best head units money can buy (you cant buy better than alpine) the settings on alpine are like no other, SONY, KENWOOD, PIONEER, are great but cant match ALPINE.

you can get direct size replacements for front and back 6.5" front door speakers (they fit direct in) no drilling involved
and rear are 6x9's standard

JBL are great speakers and budget prices, you cant go wrong 8)

All my speakers in car are 3 way 8)

yes the speakers in your post are compatable, all speaker and head units are compatable with each other, brand doesnt matter in terms of compatability

if you replace them 6x9s on the shelf and a pair of 6.5" in the front doors, you shouls see a HUGE improvement,

sum small mods may be needed tho to fit aftermarket 6x9s. because they are so much better the magnet on the back is a lot BIGGER and may not fit in the standard hole

8 years of having cars ive never had a standard setup 8)

Can you give me a link to a pre-made cable?

Now now, this is me we're talking about here... I need drop-in replacements, and I don't want to cut cabling or drill any holes.
