I had an Alfa with leather seats, the air con was, to paraphrase Clarkson "like a mouse coughing on you". They were a nightmare to get into on sunny days.

It's amazing how used to aircon you get though, my 1st air-conner the Xantia I didn't even really want air-con as I saw it as something more to go wrong...

Heres a question though.

I notice when I have my aircon off that the engine seems to run slightly more smoothly. I realise the aircon pump is going to take some power from the engine, but it feels like maybe the aircon pulley needs loosened or something? Anyone else notice this?

I notice that the revs drop slightly when the aircon compressor kicks in; I can't see there being a problem with the pulley as it's spinning all the time anyway!

It's almost as though when it kicks in it is putting a strain on the engine.

Belts are due changing anyway, another job for the list.

Auxilliary belt is pretty straight forward job, I've yet to tackle the timing belt on mine (although I should knuckle down and do it!)
