Safe for work-ish...

Funnily enough, if you pan to the left, you'll get a lovely D9 parked outside.

A fleet of Opel Astras, even in the UK where they'd usually be branded as Vauxhall

Spotted in Belfast.

GB reg'd RHD Opels (similar to those for the Ireland/Cyprus market) with big cameras on top.

Google EU Headquarters is in Dublin. That might explain the Opels

Ireland get Opels. Something to do with GM, when consolidating European branding, thinking the German name of Opel would go down better in Ireland than the Brit name of Vauxhall.

Cyprus get the RHD ones too, possibly again after independence from Britain it was felt a German brand would be a bigger seller.

NI usually has a fair percentage of imported Opels too, althought recently you're more likely to see an RoI registered grey import Vauxhall from the North these days.

It goes back a long way...when opels first came to Ireland, they branded them as such because there was still a bit of anamosity between the nations. Lots of british brands sporting the union jack have the same products here minus the flag. For the life of me I cant think of any right now. Like when all the street names were changed when we got our independence back in 1922! Thats the long and short of it anyway...

Funnily enough - they use Holden Astras as the Google Streetview cars here in Australia! :cheesy:

Not my photo, but it was taken near my old apartment!

You can bet your life that Google didn't pay a penny for any of the Astra's and Vauxhall 'won' the ability to donate the cars in return for advertising credit type thing....

I wonder if many people have been caught out by the street maps yet? you know like having affairs and stuff and being in the wrong place.

My car wasn't on my drive so I had a look again and it was outside my office (what a f*cking surprise - I'm always either at home or work :( ).
