Post by jason1987 »

i keep reading people have got over 200bhp out of their sris but i cant find anything on the net saying where i can buy all the bits and how i do it if i got a bigger turbo. dont you have to change all the engine if i put a t28 turbo on?

I suppose it depends on how much more air you're putting in. If you cram too much in with a gigantic turbo, you'll end up with too high a compression ratio which leads to pinking which would, in turn, require you to enlarge your cylinders which would of course be more trouble than it was worth :)

TBH, 306 forum may be your best bet, they love this kind of stuff.

i think you would also need a bigger intercooler as you would need more air[but i dont know for sure]

im goin to attempt to hybrid my t25 to a t28. i cant honestly say this will work unit ive done it but i was planning on taking a t28 from a fiat 20v turbo coupe (a t28 from a sx200 or pulsar would work to but the fiats compressor has the push fittings like the standard t25 instead of flanges).

-removing the exhaust turbine housing from the 20v coupe t28

-remove the t25 compressor housing and bearing housing from my sri t25.

-take the 20v coupe turbo compressor houing and bearing housing and attach it to the sri exhaust housing im hoping this should fit as the t28 uses the same exhaust turbine as the t25 so im hoping it will just be the case of slide in and bolt up (but as stated at the start this is just a theory)

effectively il be remaking a t28 but with the sri turbine side. As a t28 is basically t25 turbine with a t3 or similar compressor side if i understand what i have read.

you can fit the 205 1.9gti cams ive only heard ppl say this is a good mod but ive never yet seen any proof such as a before and after dyno.

remap if you change the cams and hybrid ur turbo get a remap done this should be were ul see the benifits

boost 8psi standard i think. u can go to 14psi but anything after that ul need an aftermarket ecu as the standard ecu can only read upto 14psi(1bar) how much boost is upto you but you will loose reliability. presonally im going to stick round the 10 - 11 psi mark

intercooler personally id get rid of the standard one even if i was only uping the boost. its thin and flimsy it must do the job as peugeot have used them but id fit a more efficent one.

please take this with a pinch of salt as ive found no documents that prove how much extra power these mods will ive. im aiming for 200bhp myself and beleave these mods should atleast see that with out having to up the boost my silly abouts. if ur going to do this fit a air/fuel ratio guage if you get a bad mix, to much air and little fuel say goodbye to your pistons and block (a remap should sort your air and fuel mix) but its better to be safe than sorry cause with a air/fuage ul be able to spot the bad mix and it will give u a chance to stop before the damage is done

You can get a lot more power out of any turbo'd car but you'll be putting a lot more heat and stress into the thing.

More fuel (to match the increased air volume) is required and that can come from raising the fuel pressure/delivery from an upgraded pump etc or bigger injectors and a remap.

Stronger engine mounts may be required.

A bigger (deeper) radiator to match the expected bhp will be ideal.

An upgraded intercooler/hoses.

A stronger head gasket may be required.

To be honest you could go on forever really but at the end of the day the pug engine is never going to produce big power without serious money spending and in my view you'd be better buying a car which left the factory with 200+ bhp all the safety guards thrown in :|

Id put it on a rolling road to see what bhp its producing now. If its way under 150bhp then you need some solid servicing done!! You'd be wasting your time upgrading turbos etc. on an already sick engine. Plus the MPG figure in that car sucks, imagine how bad it would be with a fat new turbo?
